Project Description

Apollo is the son of Zeus and is recognized as being the Greek god of many things, including the Sun and light, truth, and knowledge. He is the twin brother of Artemis, the Greek goddess of the hunt, wilderness, an the moon. There are many reasons to name one of our Horizon servers after Apollo. For starters, we liked that Apollo is a twin because we launched two identical Horizon servers on the same day. We also liked that Apollo has a connection to the constellation Lyra, both in Greek mythology and in the Stellar network through its connection with our validating node Lyra.

But, what we also absolutely loved is that NASA’s Apollo program represents remarkable human accomplishments and is one of history’s first human connections to the cosmos – it was the space program that put the first humans on the moon. The Apollo program connected people to space similar to how Horizon servers connect people to the Stellar network.

Update:  Apollo ran out of hard drive space and we decided it was time to take Apollo offline and upgrade Artemis.
